A Short Description of the TALTECH
Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is a public university founded in 1918. The contribution to this project is given through Centre for Biorobotics. The Centre for Biorobotics, established in 2008 with the aim of conducting multidisciplinary research on the borderline of science and technology. Lead by Prof. Maarja Kruusmaa, a Member of the EU’s Group of Chief Scientific Advisors, the core expertise of the Centre for Biorobotics lies in underwater robotics, underwater sensor development, soft robotics, variable stiffness actuation and control, and environmental sensing in extreme environments. The internationally recognized research team consists of 1 full professor, 2 group leaders, 5 researchers, 10 PhD candidates, 3 Post-Docs, 3 full-time support engineers as well as MSc and BSc students from Estonia and abroad.

The main tasks allocated to TALTECH in Iliad
TalTech will develop a network of remote current and wave sensor network based on a patented technology (developed in H2020 project Lakhsmi) within WP5.
TalTech will integrate the sensor network into monitoring coastal events in the Baltic sea region. We will include also harbors in Estonia to improve their situational awareness of the currents to improve overall safety of ship traffic.
The sensor network will be integrated to the Iliad platform in WP6 with the possibility to widen the test sites also to Mediterranean sea.
