Operational coastal wave modelling

Iliad will demonstrate a pilot with the application of operational coastal wave and current modelling around Crete aimed at the marine authorities in Crete as end-users.

The COASTAL CRETE platform will be integrated into Iliad for a seamless, robust and reliable access to EO and Climate data, and Copernicus Med MFC products to increase spatial and temporal resolution of our models and enhance model performance by data assimilation. The pilot in Crete will be measured by end-user’s feedback to use the pilot for marine navigation and marine safety.

There will be a second pilot for Tunisia and Morocco. The pilot will combine water quality data, remote sensing of ocean colour, wave, and current measurements, with wave and current modelling and wind data through the Iliad platform aimed at oil & gas and aquaculture industry partners. This pilot will be assessed through the number of applications for pollution monitoring and aquaculture monitoring.
