A Short Description of the UCC
University College Cork (UCC) is a leading research and higher education institution in Ireland, with a strong track record in Marine Renewable Energy. Recently (2017) named as The Times University of the Year, UCC is one of the leading partners of MaREI, the Marine and Renewable Energy Centre Ireland; it also owns and manages, through its Environmental Research Institute, the National Ocean Test Facility (NOTF-LIR) in Ringaskiddy, in the outskirts of Cork.
The research centre involved in the project will be the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) and, in particular, MaREI (Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland). MaREI has coordinated numerous European and national projects around marine energy themes, including MARINET, MARINET2, MARINERG-i, TIDES, MARIBE, COMMON SENSE (implementation of European Union Marine Policies), etc.
