Description
ALSEAMAR is a high-tech company gathering the marine and underwater activities of the ALCEN industrial group for Ocean Science markets, Defence & Security, and Offshore Oil & Gas. ALSEAMAR has 90 employees, mostly located south of France with close access to the sea. The vocation of ALSEAMAR is to design and manufacture equipment to deliver new services using technology and knowhow developed internally. Its activity is split between on-demand R&D projects and off-the-shelf products such as unmanned vehicles, underwater GPS positioning systems, buoyancy modules or radio communication equipment. The company offers a large panel of services, such as subsea monitoring, revamping, maintenance or training.
ALSEAMAR is the manufacturer of the SEA EXPLORER glider. This enduring autonomous underwater vehicle is dedicated to monitoring and/or to collecting environmental data. It is the sole glider fitted with rechargeable batteries, and also the sole one developed and manufactured from a non-American company. The SEA EXPLORER equipped with appropriate sensors is the perfect low-logistic platform for cost-efficient oceanographic data gathering at large spatio-temporal scale. It represents for Europe a strong alternative to decrease oceanographic labs’ dependency on American gliders, and furthermore a dedicate tool to go beyond traditional gliders cost-efficiency and to support the miniaturized European sensors industry.
Role In Project
Will play a leading role in WP2 and will deploy and operate advanced instrumentation in pilot sites.
